Description
Viola x Wittrockiana ‘Delta Pro Red with Blotch’ is a vibrant and robust pansy variety known for its striking deep red petals accented by a distinctive dark blotch at the center, creating a dramatic contrast that enhances garden beds and containers. As a member of the Viola genus, pansies have a rich horticultural history dating back to the early 19th century when hybridist Henry Eckford developed the modern large-flowered pansies by crossing wild species of Viola tricolor with other species, resulting in the diverse and colorful cultivars popular today. ‘Delta Pro’ series pansies are bred for superior heat tolerance and extended bloom periods, making them ideal for both spring and fall planting in temperate climates. Their compact growth habit and vigorous flowering make them excellent for mass plantings and border accents. This cultivar’s resilience and ornamental appeal have earned it recognition among gardeners seeking dependable, showy pansies with vivid coloration and lasting performance in landscapes.
