Description
Hosta ‘Tears in Heaven’ is a distinctive and striking variety of plantain lily renowned for its dramatic foliage and elegant form. This cultivar features large, heart-shaped leaves with a rich blue-green center framed by a wide, creamy white margin, creating a bold contrast that adds visual interest to shade gardens and landscape beds. Part of the extensive Hosta genus, which has been cultivated for centuries primarily in East Asia and widely embraced in North American gardens, ‘Tears in Heaven’ is appreciated for its vigorous growth and adaptability to partial to full shade conditions. Hostas are valued not only for their lush foliage but also for their delicate lavender to white flowers that bloom in midsummer, attracting pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds. The ‘Tears in Heaven’ variety stands out for its ability to maintain leaf variegation throughout the growing season and resist common pest issues better than many other hostas. Its ornamental appeal and resilience have earned it recognition in horticultural circles, making it a favored choice for both novice and experienced gardeners seeking a dependable and aesthetically pleasing shade plant.
