Description
Viola x wittrockiana ‘Inspire Plus Summer Skies’ pansy is a vibrant and robust garden favorite known for its large, vividly colored blooms that bring early spring and summer gardens to life. This hybrid pansy variety, developed through selective breeding to enhance heat tolerance and prolonged blooming, features a unique blend of soft blues and purples with intricate, darker veining and a bright yellow center, creating an eye-catching “summer skies” effect. Unlike traditional pansies that prefer cooler temperatures, ‘Inspire Plus Summer Skies’ is part of the Inspire Plus series, celebrated for its improved vigor and resilience in warmer conditions, making it ideal for extending the pansy season into late summer. Pansies have a rich horticultural history dating back to the 19th century when Viola x wittrockiana was first bred to combine the wild pansy’s charm with larger, more colorful flowers suitable for ornamental use. This particular cultivar is prized by gardeners and landscapers alike for its reliable performance, disease resistance, and versatility in containers, borders, and bedding displays. The Inspire Plus series has been recognized for its superior heat tolerance and continuous blooming habit, distinguishing it as a top choice for colorful summer floral displays.
