Description
Helleborus x Winter Jewels ‘Amethyst Glow’, commonly known as the Lenten Rose, is a hybrid hellebore renowned for its early spring blooms and remarkable cold tolerance. This evergreen perennial features distinctive upward-facing, cup-shaped flowers in a soft amethyst purple hue with subtle veining, set against glossy, leathery dark green foliage that maintains year-round interest. Originating from hybridization efforts to enhance bloom reliability and extend flowering periods, the Winter Jewels series was developed to provide gardeners with a more robust and floriferous hellebore suited to a variety of landscapes. ‘Amethyst Glow’ is particularly valued for its vigor, disease resistance, and ability to thrive in shaded garden spots, making it a standout choice for woodland or shaded perennial borders. Recognized for its ornamental appeal and garden performance, this cultivar exemplifies the horticultural advancements in hellebore breeding that have expanded the plant’s popularity beyond traditional Lenten Rose varieties.
