Description
Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Golden Fastigiata’, commonly known as Hinoki Cypress, is a striking evergreen conifer renowned for its narrow, columnar growth habit and vibrant golden-yellow foliage that provides year-round color and texture in landscape designs. Originating from Japan, the Hinoki Cypress has been cultivated for centuries and is prized for its slow growth, dense branching, and attractive, fan-shaped foliage that exudes a rich, citrus-like fragrance when crushed. This cultivar’s upright form makes it an excellent choice for vertical accents, hedges, or specimen planting in gardens and formal landscapes. The golden hue of ‘Golden Fastigiata’ adds a luminous contrast to darker greens, enhancing visual interest across seasons. Its adaptability to a variety of soil types and preference for well-drained, slightly acidic conditions contribute to its popularity among gardeners and landscapers alike. Recognized for its ornamental value, this cultivar embodies both the horticultural heritage and aesthetic appeal that make Hinoki Cypress a distinguished addition to temperate garden settings.
