Description
Astilbe ‘X Short N Sweet Raspberry’ is a compact, vibrant perennial known for its striking raspberry-red plume-like flower clusters that bloom in early to mid-summer. This cultivar is part of the Astilbe genus, prized for their fern-like, finely textured foliage and brilliant floral spikes, which provide long-lasting color in shade gardens. ‘Short N Sweet Raspberry’ stands out for its notably shorter stature compared to traditional Astilbes, making it ideal for smaller garden beds, borders, or container planting while still delivering a bold splash of color. Originating from hybridization efforts aimed at producing more compact and floriferous varieties, it combines the classic charm of Astilbe with improved garden versatility and ease of maintenance. Known for its tolerance to moist, shady environments, this cultivar thrives in well-drained, consistently moist soils and attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its unique combination of compact growth habit and vivid raspberry flower color has earned it recognition among garden enthusiasts and landscape professionals for adding vibrant texture and color to shaded garden spaces.
