Description
Lupinus polyphyllus ‘Mini Gallery Pink Bicolor’ is a striking perennial lupine renowned for its compact size and vibrant, bi-colored blooms that showcase shades of soft pink accented with creamy white, offering a charming contrast that brightens garden borders and containers. Originating from western North America, Lupinus polyphyllus has a rich history as a native wildflower that has been widely cultivated for its ornamental appeal and its ability to improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. The ‘Mini Gallery’ series is selectively bred to deliver a more manageable, dwarf habit compared to traditional tall lupines, making it ideal for smaller garden spaces and mixed perennial beds. This cultivar typically blooms in late spring to early summer, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies, while its palmately divided leaves add lush greenery beneath the floral spikes. The plant prefers full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soils and demonstrates good adaptability across USDA zones 4 to 8. Lupinus polyphyllus varieties, including those in the ‘Mini Gallery’ series, have been recognized in horticultural circles for their vibrant colors and garden versatility, contributing to their popularity among perennial enthusiasts and landscape designers alike.
